With its user-friendly platform, Paycor enables businesses to save time, reduce errors, and improve overall efficiency, making it a practical solution for organizations of various sizes.

Key Features

  • Payroll Management : A dependable system that calculates wages automatically and guarantees employees receive accurate, on-time payments.
  • Tax Filing : A built-in solution that manages payroll taxes and prepares the required filings, keeping every business fully compliant with local and federal regulations.
  • HR Management : A single, organized space for employee records and HR workflows. It simplifies recordkeeping, reporting, and day-to-day team administration.

Pricing

  • Paycor displays multiple plan tiers for small businesses: e.g., Basic, Essential, Complete, and HCM.

  • For companies with fewer than 50 employees, pricing is explicitly shown:

    • Basic: $99/month + $5 per employee/month

    • Essential: $149/month + $6 per employee/month

    • Complete: $199/month + $7 per employee/month

    • HCM (full suite): $199/month + $12 per employee/month

  • They also publish “overage fees” for each employee beyond plan limits: e.g., Basic plan unit rate $10 per extra employee, etc.

  • For mid-market (50-1000+ employees) and larger orgs, Paycor offers custom quotes rather than fixed public pricing.

Plan Tier (for <50 employees) Monthly Base Fee Per Employee Fee Notes
Basic ~$99 ~$5 Payroll & tax service, standard features.
Essential ~$149 ~$6 Adds onboarding, time-off tools, HR support.
Complete ~$199 ~$7 More advanced HR, analytics, compensation planning.
HCM (Full Suite) ~$199 ~$12 All modules: HR + payroll + talent + etc.

🧮 My Estimate & Notes

  • For a small business (say 10 employees), using the Basic plan would cost roughly: $99 + (10 × $5) = ~$149 per month.

  • If you include many features (Complete or HCM) and more employees, the per-employee cost of ~$7-$12 adds up quickly.

  • Setup or onboarding may include extra one-time fees (not always publicly listed). For example, a PDF proposal showed a client paying ~$4,450 for one time fees for 107 employees.

  • For larger companies (50+ or 100+ employees), the pricing becomes custom, so expect negotiations, possible volume discounts, etc.

Reviews

  • Trustpilot Review (Rating: 1.2/5): Multiple reviewers call Paycor “THE WORST payroll system out there,” citing constantly wrong reporting data, missed payments to 401k accounts, and charges during months when a seasonal business stayed closed. Several complain about “unauthorized payroll” issues, hidden and increasing fees, and a tax department that never returns calls within the promised “8 to 12 weeks.” Comparisons to ADP, UKG, and Paycom paint those competitors as better choices.
  • Reddit r/Payroll: Employees argue over a migration to the Paychex domain, with one claiming the company phased out Paycor email, SSO, and laptops and replaced them with Paychex credentials and branding. Another insists clients will not have to merge or change platforms and says the two will operate as “separate business units.” The thread captures confusion and internal tension, with one commenter bluntly calling the situation “a mess.”
  • 💬TechRadar Review (Rating: 4/5): The review recommends it for medium-sized companies that do not face overly complex requirements, but criticizes the lack of transparent pricing and notes that costs remain hidden.
  • CCapterra Review (Rating: 4.3/5): One user calls it an “effective, all in one HR and payroll solution” and says the system feels easy to maneuver. Clocking in and out works without issue, and managing vacation time runs smoothly.
  • GGartner Review (Rating: 4/5): A consulting firm praises Paycor for “Seamless Time and Attendance Management” and says the time and attendance module feels super easy to set up across multiple devices. Another reviewer who managed over 100 part-time employees reports an “up and down” experience, noting that the web-based platform looks nice but creates user issues. Integration with other software and accounting systems earns positive remarks.
  • G2 Review (Rating: 3.9/5): Many users highlight the user-friendly interface and say Paycor simplifies payroll management and time tracking, with 377 mentions of ease of use and 209 tied to payroll management. The mobile app allows employees to punch in and out from their phones, and real-time data insights support workforce decisions. Some reviewers flag customer support as slow or unhelpful when problems arise.
