The MAQTOOB Story
MAQTOOB has a history that predates the current site. It launched in London in 2013 as a discovery platform for entrepreneur tools, built by a startup team led by founder Kristyna Zapletalova. The project was covered by European startup press and took part in Google Campus programs. Its Medium publication, MAQTOOB for Entrepreneurs, ran articles on startups, remote work, and productivity that were quoted and linked by major publications. The original company later wound down, and the publication stopped updating at the end of 2019.
New Ownership
The domain later changed hands, and at times hosted content unrelated to its history, before being rebuilt in 2025 into what it is now. The current MAQTOOB is independently owned and operated, and it is not affiliated with the original founders or their company. We rebuilt it as a SaaS directory because the mission the name stood for, helping entrepreneurs find useful and affordable tools, is worth continuing. Out of respect for that history, we preserve a record of the original team’s most cited writing in our Heritage archive.
