Culture Amp

Employee surveys, performance, and development tools that connect to an existing HRIS.

Updated August 11, 2026

Culture Amp Overview

Culture Amp is an employee experience platform for HR teams, managers and business leaders. Engage gathers feedback through engagement, pulse, onboarding, offboarding and DEI surveys, then helps teams compare results, choose focus areas and decide what to change.

Perform covers goals, one-on-one conversations, feedback, performance reviews and calibration. Develop adds career paths, competencies and personal growth goals. These products can share data, but Culture Amp is not a core HR or payroll system. It connects to an existing HRIS for employee information.

Key Features

  • Engage: Run engagement, pulse, onboarding, offboarding and DEI surveys, then turn results into action plans.
  • Perform: Manage goals, feedback, one-on-ones, performance reviews and calibration.
  • Develop: Define career paths and competencies, then build personal growth plans.
  • Coaching and recognition: Use AI Coach, Skills Coach and Shoutouts to support manager conversations and employee recognition.
  • HRIS connection: Sync employee information from an existing HR system instead of using Culture Amp as the core record or payroll platform.

Pros

Competitor Where this tool may fit better
15Five 15Five puts more emphasis on frequent manager check-ins. Culture Amp combines research-led engagement surveys with performance processes in the same platform. It is well suited to organizations that want deeper survey analysis alongside reviews, with frequent manager check-ins playing a supporting role.
Lattice Engagement analytics are the clearest reason to favor Culture Amp in this pairing. One documented pilot chose it for survey depth. The same buyer found Lattice stronger for structured reviews and OKR tracking, so the decision was genuinely dependent on what the team needs.
Qualtrics Qualtrics supports many kinds of research. Culture Amp is designed specifically around employee experience. HR teams may find the questions, benchmarks and action-planning process easier to apply without building a complex survey program from scratch.
Officevibe If Officevibe is on the shortlist, organizations moving beyond lightweight pulse checks may value Culture Amp’s performance modules and deeper analysis. It gives leaders more room to connect engagement findings with goals, feedback and development work.

Cons

Competitor Where the rival may have the edge
15Five Buyers weighing 15Five should note this. Culture Amp requires a sales proposal, and teams centered on weekly conversations may prefer a product whose process starts there. Ask both vendors to demonstrate the manager routine, not just the annual survey and review cycle.
Lattice The same pilot found Lattice stronger for structured reviews and OKR tracking, so Culture Amp does not win every part of the suite. Buyers who care most about structured reviews and OKRs should compare those processes directly before choosing on survey strength.
Qualtrics Highly customized research, complex survey logic or broad customer-and-employee programs may call for Qualtrics’ wider survey platform. Culture Amp’s HR focus is an advantage only when that narrower design matches the job.
Officevibe Officevibe may be easier for a small team that wants quick pulse checks and simple manager follow-up. Culture Amp can feel heavier when deeper survey analysis is not needed. The quote also makes it harder to judge whether the extra analytics justify the setup effort.

Reviews

  • G2 Culture Amp reviews: Recent 2026 people leaders praise benchmarked engagement data, structured performance cycles, fast action planning and AI comment summaries. Other users say navigation between feedback, performance and one-on-one areas can be confusing, report customization needs work and chat replies can be slow.
  • Reddit Culture Amp and Lattice pilot: A buyer who tested both says Lattice was stronger for structured reviews and OKR tracking, while Culture Amp provided deeper engagement analytics. Their team chose Culture Amp because survey depth mattered more.
